2 stars An entertaining story in a light-hearted escapist way, but the characterization was very shallow, the twists were predictable, and there were several episodes that jarred my sense of realism, like:
All the classic fantasy tropes were there: elves, dwarves, humans, goblins, and wizards portrayed exactly the way they always are (except the old-and-noble speech is pretty poorly and cheesily done), an earthy farmer, a ditzy heart-of-gold peasant girl, a ditzy-yet-determined princess, and evil, self-congratulatory mastermind villains. Kind of fun in a shallow, familiar way, but nothing to get excited about. |
