My quest for the perfect biscuit has led me through dozens of experiments (see http://www.instructables.com/id/The-S...), but a reader recently suggested yet another experiment: can you make biscuits with vegetable oil?
Turns out you can, and they're not bad. There's almost zero structural difference between butter biscuits and oil biscuits, and I think most people would be hard pressed to tell much difference in taste. Vegetable oil makes a good alternative to butter or shortening and is a lot easier to mix into the flour.
